What can IPL Treat?

Acne

IPL acne management targets acne-prone skin to reduce acne bacteria, breakouts and inflammation for a clearer, more balanced and healthier looking complexion. A great add on to any treatment.

Vascular Therapy

Spider veins, broken capillaries, red spots and rosacea can all be reduced and removed to offer clients an even, more uniform complexion. (Note: We only treat spider veins and capillaries on the face, neck and chest - we recommend seeing a specialized Leg Vein Doctor for the Legs.)

Pigmentation Correction

IPL pigmentation correction effectively fades and removes age spots, sun spots and discoloration to greatly improve overall skin tone, texture and radiance. This can be treated all over the body.

Photo Rejuvenation

Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth out irregularities and  enhance your skin's  overall luminosity for a revitalized, youthful  glow with IPL photo rejuvenation.

What is IPL?

IPL (intense pulsed light) technology is a treatment designed to target and reduce the appearance of vascular lesions, skin pigmentation and acne. By applying the light modality to the skin and releasing heat into the target tissue, we are able to stimulate the bodies natural removal process allowing for a reduction of these skin concerns. IPL also has the ability to stimulate fibroblast cells which are responsible for producing elastin and collagen that improves the volume of the skin, texture and tone.

How many treatments do I need?

A course of 4 treatments 4 weeks apart is recommended for optimum result. Each individual may be different.

What do I need to do before hand?

Ensure that you have had a IPL Test spot with The Skin Coaches - so we can ensure we can find the best setting and result for your treatment.

If you are having Pigmentation Correction: You must have had a Doctors Skin Check with the doctors and bring the Clearance form to the Skin Coaches before your first treatment.

Ensure that you have no spray tan on the areas we are treating before your appointment. We can also not treat anyone on light sensitive medications, anti-biotics or anyone that is pregnant.

Will I be really red after my treatment?

There’s minimal downtime and side effects with IPL Rejuvenation, however some clients may experience minimal swelling and may feel slightly sunburnt straight after the treatment. Any pigmentation will immediately darken and a crust will begin to form. Your skin’s natural exfoliation process will take care of the rest. The treated skin can be itchy, and it’s important not to scratch it.

What do I need to do after my appointment?

Your Skin Coach will provide post-treatment instructions and recommend products that you can use at home to maximize the benefits.

  • Things to avoid: No exercise for 48 hours post-treatment. No skincare products with active ingredients for 5 days. Avoid sun exposure for 7 days. No exfoliation for 7 days. No further heat treatments for 4 weeks. Lots of SPF needs to be worn & keep up with your EFA's (DMK Essential Fatty Acids).

Does it hurt?

Some clients describe the experience as uncomfortable but not painful. You will experience a sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band on the skin, each time the IPL hand piece is applied. The treated skin will experience sensitivity, redness and immediate warmth after treatment.
